Cellcom has been Israel’s largest cellular company for a decade, and a leading brand in thecommunications field. The company provides its customers with a wide range of services inthe field of cellular communications, including basic telephone services, associated services(such as voice mail, caller ID, call waiting), advanced services (such as SMS, information andentertainment services) and roaming services abroad. Cellcom also sells end-user equipmentand provides maintenance and warranty services for this equipment through a network of 360marketing outlets and 30 service centers countrywide.As of March 31, 2006, Cellcom provided services to over 2.6 million subscribers,commanding a market share of 34.5%.
Services and products
Cellcom offers a wide range of wireless communication services to both the private andbusiness sectors, including virtual private network (VPN) services, roaming services overseas, SMS, teleconferencing, and content and multimedia services.It is the only cellular company in Israel that provides fixed line data communications andtransmission services to the business sector, supplied in a range of advanced solutions tailored to customer needs.
Marketing
In March 2005, Cellcom launched "Cellcom Volume" (the Israeli music portal), linking thecellular world with Israeli music.In September 2005, Cellcom successfully launched its mobile Internet service "i-mode,"following a strategic partnership agreement with NTT DoCoMo, the leading and largestcommunications company in Japan.Recently, Cellcom launched "Cellcom Volume 2006," which established Cellcom's positionas a leader in the world of Israeli music via cellular, and set a new entertainment agenda forthe market. Cellcom introduced new music handsets and accessories, offering a new world ofcellular content that collaborates with leading artists in Israeli music and radio.
Technology and infrastructure
Cellcom operates GSM/GPRS/EDGE, TDMA and UMTS/HSDPA(3.5G) networks. Its advanced technologies offer subscribers added-value services such as access to video and music content, Java games, MMS, high speed mobile Internet connection, and more.
Cellcom has deployed a broadband optic transmission infrastructure throughout the country and an advanced, independent IP communications network. Cellcom uses this infrastructure to provide transmission. data communication services and broadband Internet assess services to businesses, offering an alternative to Bezeq's infrastructure and services.
Cellcom's engineering system is based on blue chip communications equipment providers such as Nokia, Nortel, Erickson, Alcatel and Telecordia.
In December 2005 and January 2006, Cellcom privately issued AA-rated bonds totaling more than NIS 1.7 billion, which were registered for trade on the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange in February 2006.
